Free works entirely locally — no account needed, no data leaves your browser. Pro unlocks sync, sharing, collaboration, timesheets, and the priority system.
Local-only mode
Without an account, HeyStax stores everything in your browser’s local storage. Your Stax are private, fast, and completely offline-capable. You can create, edit, restore, and delete Stax without ever signing in.
The tradeoff: local-only Stax don’t sync across devices, can’t be shared, and aren’t accessible from the CLI, dashboard, or AI assistants.
Cross-device sync
On Pro, your Stax sync to the cloud automatically. Open a Stax on your laptop, add a next action on your phone’s browser, complete it from your work machine. Same data, everywhere.
Sync is bidirectional — changes from any surface propagate to all others. If you’re offline, changes queue locally and sync when you reconnect.
Signing up
- Click the sync button in the TabStax extension popup
- Create an account with email and password
- Confirm your email
- Choose Free (stay local) or start a Pro trial
